"Let me be the conduit. There are all these hearts, and mine is strong, and if there are-there are!-capillaries that bring blood to millions, that we are all of one body and that I am-Oh, I want to be the heart pumping blood to everyone, blood is what I know, I feel so warm in blood, can swim in blood, oh let me be the strong -beating heart that brings blood to everyone!"

That books sounded so intriging to me by the title, but I'm not sure I'd get through it if it's all written like that!
Here's mine:
"With a boy you never know whether he's smitten or gagging, but with a girl you can tell in the first three seconds. Between girls there is a silent and unending flow of invisible signals, like the high-frequency wireless messages between the shore and the ships at sea, and this secret flow of dots and dashes was signaling that Mary detested me."
-The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley pg 85
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS HEROINE!!! She is a mix of Catniss from Hunger Games and Cassandra from I Capture the Castle, with some spunkiness all her own. I {heart} Flavia de Luce!!
Yes, HWOSG is an add book. I am reading it sort of out of obligation. Lots of colorful language and weird references. I don't think I'll suggest it for the ladies.
Im reading The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux.
I'm on page 192, so I'll just do a random line from that page so I don't give anything away.
"She had been standing in one place, holding the little book, for several minutes now. Opening the book to the first chapter, she read, "I never married because I knew that love would place chains on me, and, above all else, I wanted freedom."
Okay, here's mine:
"I have been offered no one I could like as a husband," she said, "And I am happy in my single state"
"You are the queen," said Cecil flatly, "And queens cannot choose the single state."
-Virgin's Lover by Phillippa Gregory
*despite all evidence to the contrary (namely the title) I am not reading a trashy romance novel, it's about Queen Elizabeth
**I read 3 quarters of HWOSG and got really bored with the lack of progress in the story--to me it was basically a book about nothing--maybe I'm just shallow
HAHA! I can't wait to tell everyone that DeEtte is reading smutty books!
Here's mine (and I know it's 3 sentences, but trust me, you need the third:)
"My morbid interest metastasized immediately to one of horrified dismay at this confession. I knew him to be strange, yet this was an undreamt-of facet of the unnatural and the bizarre. What sort of man stores beneath his basement stairs the shrunken head of his own father?" The Monstrumologist p. 95
*Yeah, and mine, I don't know if even I can get through it, it's pretty gruesome...
