Bookstore Night!!

Hey Ladies!

If anyone feels like a night out this week, join Carmen and I for our bookstore night! Tomorrow night (Tuesday the 1st) we'll be hitting Macaroni Grill for some appetizers and desserts and then over to Barnes and Noble for some browsing. We'll be at Macaroni Grill at 8:00 pm. so feel free to come along. If you think you're up for it, let me know so I can know how big of a table we need (but if you want to come last minute that's fine, too!!)

Scattergories

My friend emailed me this game, I thought we could have a go, literachicks style. Basically, to play, all the answers need to start with the same letter and this case, use the first letter in your first name. I'll go first. To play, just copy and paste my questions and answers into a comment and erase my answers to fill in yours.
We'll see how creative we can get!!

Candid Captures at Book Club

Had just a second to upload these. Of course this month's book club was all about the food (and drink) we had Hot Chocolate Mousse as in I Capture the Castle Cassandra says that she thinks hot chocolate is the most perfect drink. I would have to agree.

Honestly, am I really that much taller than you all?! Remember girls, platforms are IN!

Our new Look!!

Hey everyone!
I've spruced up the blog--hopefully you all approve. Thanks to Sara for tipping me off on where to find this template and of course a big shout out to the template maker! If you guys are looking for a spruce up on your personal blogs, check it out at www.cutestblogontheblock.blogspot.com

Captured by Capture

I am about 1/2 way through this month's book, and I forgot how terribly funny the Narrator Casandra is! She says the funniest things. I thought I'd post some of the poignant lines that have had me smiling, and Brandon asking, "what's so funny?" Maybe we can all post lines we like here as we read them?!

Here's a few of my favorites so far:

"Contemplation seems to be about the only luxury that costs nothing." Pg 25

"Noble deeds and hot baths are the best cures for depression." Pg 38

"There is something revolting about the way girls' minds so often jump to marriage long before they jump to love." Pg 55

Cassandra scorning romance: "I know all about the facts of life. And I don't think much of them."

-I'm sure you have more, help me out!

Hey Ladies,

This months selection will be I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. Our host will be Sara and (of course) it will be on the last Tuesday, which is the 25th. I've heard great things about this book, so I'm excited to get started. If you have a copy to pass around, let the members or me know!!

Reading Rainbow

Anyone remember this show? The other day Jon took Sydney on and errand to the hardware store and taught her the opening theme song in the car on the way home. I just about died when I heard her singing it. I loved this show! I used to watch it everyday in the summer and sometimes I would try to pretend I was sick so I could stay home from school just to get my Lavar Burton fix. (Yeah, I know I'm a dork...) My very favorite episode was the one when they went to the dairy and talked all about cows and how they make and distribute milk.

Anyway, for anyone needing a little Reading Rainbow in their lives right now, here's a link to the opening credits: Reading Rainbow.
